Honest Scrap Award

I was given the Honest Scrap Award from Dana at Growing Up Graham. The idea is for me to tell you 10 random, honest things about myself. Well, let's see what I can come up with!

1. I have two tattoos, one on each ankle. Both of them are Irish/Celtic in nature.

2. I once came in 1st place in singles in the state tournament in junior bowling.

3. I've met River Phoenix, John Corbett, Robert Llwellyn, Mickey Dolenz and got autographs from all of them.

4. I have a fondness for things English - mainly tv shows and movies. The Vicar Of Dibley, Absolutely Fabulous, Monarch of the Glenn, and Doctor Who to name a few.

5. I love board games. I own way too many of them, probably about 50 of them.

6. My biggest guilty pleasure is New Kids On The Block. I have loved them since eight grade. I've seen them in concert three times, once in high school and twice in the past year. Donnie was and will always be my favorite New Kid.

7. I know how to knit. But just basic knitting. I can't purl for anything. All I'm good for is a scarf. My greatest accomplishment in knitting is completing a replica of Tom Baker's scarf in Doctor Who.

8. I took French for a year in middle school, all four years in high school and for two years in college. Yet, I can't speak it!

9. I have had four surgeries. I had a tonsillectomy when I was seven. I had a benign tumor removed from behind my ear when I was twelve. I had a c-section with my first son in 1995. And I had a c-section with my second son in 2009.

10. I am the mother of a cancer survivor. My oldest son, Killian was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma when he was six years old. He had a year of chemo and six weeks of radiation. He has been cancer free since 2002, eight years this fall!

That was way harder than I thought it would be!

Now I have to pass this award to 5 other people. My awards go to -

Happy New Years!!!

What a decade it's been! And how fast did it seem to go by?!?! I've seen other bloggers doing a recap of sorts of the last 10 years. Apparently I'm a follower, because I've decided to the same thing here!

2000 - Living in Gainesville, FL, working at Perkins (no, I never saw Tiger Woods), living with Mom and being a single mom to Killian.

2001 - My baby boy started Kindergarten, then my world came to a screeching halt. On October 6th, Killian was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue tumor. He started chemotherapy and began his year long battle with cancer.

2002 - Moved to Micanopy, FL. Killian started radiation treatment to go with his chemo. I was still working nights at Perkins, so I could be with Killian during the day. He finished his last treatment in November. His wish trip from Children's Wish Foundation was granted. We went to Disney, Epcot, and MGM Studios, as well as a 3 day cruise on Disney's cruise line in December. It was a wonderful trip!

2003 - I had quit work right before the wish trip, so for the first part of the year, I stayed home with Killian and homeschooled him. By now he had missed kindergarten and first grade. I wanted him to be able to go right into second grade as if he hadn't missed any school. During the summer, he was tested and given the okay to start back to school in second grade. He went back to school, I went back to work - at Publix.

2004 - Moved back to Gainesville. Decided to move to my Dad's after Killian finished the school year. Moved to GA in June, much better job opportunities!! In September, started working for the company that I'm still with.

2005 - Joined eHarmony on New Years Day (this will be important later). Bought my house in March. Granma passed away in September. Matched up with a great man on eHarmony in the fall, 10/31/05 to be exact. We had our first date on 11/29/05. This wonderful man was Matt!

2006 - Matt proposed to me on 4/8/06. Took a fabulous trip to Vegas! Spent the rest of the year planning a wedding. Killian is still cancer free!

2007 - Matt and I got married on 4/29/07. Daddy was on the verge of having a heart attack and ended up having a valve replacement and a triple bypass. Killian started middle school in the fall.

2008 - This was a fairly uneventful year. We took a vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. We went to work, Killian went to school. So on and so forth.

2009 - Our world changed again this year. On 1/6/09, I found out that I was pregnant. Most of the year was spent getting things ready for the baby. Killian started 8th grade in August. Then on 8/24/09, Matthew Carter aka Button, was born. The last few months have been busy with getting settled in to some sort of routine!

2010 - My baby boy will start high school in the all. Other than that, who knows!

Four month stats

Button had his four month appointment on 12/29. He is growing into a health big boy! He weighed in at 15lbs 11oz and measured 25 inches long. Wow! He got three immunizations and took them pretty well. His crying only lasted for a few minutes. We also got the okay to start solid, which was a good thing! I had already given him a little bit of rice cereal a couple days before. He seems to love it. We'll move on to oatmeal probably this weekend sometime.
